John and Anania
Anania Ngoliga and John Kitime have been friends and musicians in the Tanzanian music scene for years. Anania who lost his sight at a very young age, has performed with a number of successful bands in Tanzania. Today he is bandleader of The Karafuu Band in Zanzibar. John Kitime began playing guitar at home, his parents and grandparents were all teachers and despite his desire to play music he became a teacher between 1973 and 1978. However, in 1983 he joined Orchestra Mambo Bado which was headed by Tchimanga Assossa, and then moved to Orchestra Makassy, TX Seleleka, Tancut Almasi Orchestra, Vijana Jazz, Magoma Moto Sound and finally the Kilimanjaro Band. What brought Anania and John together to create their duo was their common love for traditional music. Anania plays the Kalimba and John plays the acoustic guitar in the finger picking style he learned from his father, Francis Kitime who was also a celebrated recording artist. The two have made numerous shows which include tours to the US and India.

Banana Zoro
As one of the first Bongo Flava artists in Tanzania Banana Zoro helped to define the sound of Bongo Flava. Initially he had a strong latin influence, which was very popular on the radio stations in the beginning of the 00´s. Later he created the B Band, which focused on live performances in the capital and has to date been very successful. Tonight he will be performing with his full band.
